Mr. Harold Bowie was born October 11, 1941 to the union of Morris Bowie Sr. and Mabel Hebert in New Orleans LA. He was baptized at an early age at Loving Age Four Baptist Church of New Orleans, LA. Harold was a member of Greater Tulane Baptist Church where he sang in the choir. He loved to sing and had a wonderful, beautiful voice.

Harold was educated in the Orleans Parish School System graduating from Booker T. Washing Senior High School in the Class of 1959. He enlisted the United States Army in 1962, and was honorably discharged after two years of dedicated serve. Subsequent to his time in the military Harold worked for many years for Katz and Besthoff Drug Store, better known as "K & B". He later worked at Krauss in the shoe repair department and in his later years he served as a patient escort in the emergency room at Ochsner Medical Center.

In 1980 Harold married Ethel Bowie and with this union he inherited five children, Gail Baptiste, Willard George, Desiree George, Andree Lizana and Angela Keys. Pawpaw, as he is known to his family, will be greatly missed. He was always available to us in any and every way possible. Wherever we were or what we were doing he was there. He loved to sing and dance and play spades. You could find him and the love of his life everywhere together doing whatever they wanted to do. Harold Bowie departed this life Monday, November 17, 2025 very peacefully in his home in New Orleans, LA with his wife by side, at the age of 84.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Morris Sr. and Mabel Bowie, his brothers, Howard, Clarence, and Morris Jr. Bowie, and his grandson, Joshua Baptiste.

Harold is survived by his wife of forty-five years: Ethel Bowie. Harold also leaves his children, ten grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; two nephews: Howard Jr. and Sean Bowie; sisters-in-law: Noel Randal, Myrtle Croson, Bernadette Bowie and Carolyn Bowie; brother-in-law: Thomas Harris; and cousins: George and Wilson Bowie; and a host of family, friends and coworkers.
