Harold Cottom

Harold E. Cottom's story began on September 30, 1964, in
Chestnut Hill PA, where he was born to Arlene Kelly and Harold
Cottom. Harold, who was well known to his friends and family as
either "Butchie" or "Butch", passed away on June 2, 2025.
Butchie grew up in the warm and loving home of his doting
grandparents, John Willie Kelly Sr. and Lucy Jane (Gaskins) Kelly,
in Fort Washington, PA. Their guidance and care helped shape the
kind-hearted, spirited man he became. After graduating from
Upper Dublin High School, Butchie made the proud decision to
serve his country by enlisting in the United States Army in 1982.
In 1992, he relocated to Atlanta, Georgia. Though he enjoyed his
life in Atlanta, Butchie remained deeply connected to his roots. A
devoted family man, he frequently traveled back to PA to spend
time with his mother, sisters, nephews, cousins, family, and many
friends.
Butchie had a larger-than-life personality. He loved watching
wrestling and football, often while talking trash and sharing
laughs with those he loved. Known for his energetic spirit and
outspoken nature, he brought joy and vibrancy into every room he
entered.
Above all, Butchie was a dedicated and supportive family man. We
will MISS him deeply but his memory will continue to bring smiles
to our faces as we reflect on the ways he touched our lives.
Butchie was preceded in death by: his cherished grandparents,
John and Lucy Kelly and his Uncle; Wilton Bernard Kelly. Butchie
leaves to cherish his memory: his mother, Arlene Kelly; two
sisters, Twiggy Paige and Jane (Jose) Morales; three nephews,
Reginald Jr., Jordan, and LeBron; one great-nephew, James; one
great-niece, Anastasia; one brother/friend, Reginald Paige Sr.; as
well as a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Memorial Service on Thursday, June 19, 2025 at 7:00pm at the Emil J. Ciavarelli Funeral Homes and Crematory, 951 E. Butler Pike, Ambler, PA 19002. A visitation will be held from 6:00pm-7:00pm.
