Harold (Dan) Danielson, age 97, of Fargo and West Fargo passed away at Bethany. He died peacefully surrounded by his loving family.
Dan was born on March 31, 1927 in Fergus Falls, MN. He was the oldest sibling of 6 and the only son of Melvin and Alma Danielson. He assisted with the family farm until 25 when he enlisted in the United States Air Force. After four years of service, he continued his military career with the North Dakota Air National Guard in 1956. He worked as an Aircraft Mechanic. After 30 years he retired at the rank of Master Sergeant.
Dan married the love of his life, Marlys Ouren on May 9, 1959. They raised their 3 children in North Fargo.
Dan and Marlys were members of Hope Lutheran Church for 58 years. He was an usher for many years and enjoyed Men's group outings such as Men in Boats and baseball games. They also volunteered for Meals on Wheels. Dan's strong faith in God guided him throughout his life.
Dan was always on the go and loved visits with family and friends. He had a passion for fishing, watching and attending baseball games, fixing cars and daily walks. Dan and Marlys enjoyed numerous road trips, cruises and bus tours throughout their 64 years of marriage.
His grandchildren were a highlight in his life! He loved supporting their activities such as dance recitals, theatre plays, soccer, baseball and basketball games. He was their biggest fan!
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marlys, his parents Melvin and Alma Danielson, sister Mildred Hansen, brother-in-laws; Robert Hansen, Ed Funfar, Maynard Herigstad and Darwin Lindberg. He will be greatly missed by his children; Sue (Jim Kuchar), Steve (Sheila Danielson), Shari (Al Enno), grandchildren; Jaimie (Michael Catterall), Kelli (Mike Kettelhut), Alison Enno, Andrew Enno, Blake Murchie, Bre (Tom Smurr), Bryce Murchie, great grandchildren; Charlie Catterall, Mikey Smurr, sisters; Helen Funfar, Ethel Danielson, Arlene Herigstad, Harriett (Gayland) Fronning and many extended family members and friends.
A celebration of life will be held at Hope Lutheran Church North Campus,2900 Broadway North, Fargo, ND on Saturday, June 15th. Visitation will begin at 10:00am and a service at 11:00 with lunch to follow. The service will be livestreamed on the funeral home website.
Dan's family would like to thank his caregivers at Bethany and Ethos Hospice.
