Harold Lee England, 82, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Thursday, January 1, 2026, at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinic, with his family by his side. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, January 16, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the American Legion Hall in Marion, Iowa.

Harold was born in Bowling Green, MO, on June 9, 1943, to William Edward (Ed) and Leota England. He graduated from Belle Plaine High School in 1961. He joined the Navy Reserves while in high school and then went into active duty in the Navy after high school graduation. He was stationed on the USS Canberra during the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962. He was honored to participate in the Eastern Iowa Honor Flight in 2019.

He married Janice (Bowers) England on July 28, 1967, in Dysart, IA. They had three children, Mike, Julie and Jeff. Harold was employed at FMC-Link Belt for 18 years and then worked at Rockwell-Goss for 18 years until it closed. He spent many years working on his rental houses until they were lost in the 2008 flood. Harold was an avid fisherman and spent many weekends trout fishing in NE Iowa with his children, grandchildren and nephew, David Weldon. He loved spending time with his wife, family, and friends, as well as camping, fishing, gardening and going for walks.

He is survived by his wife, Janice, with whom he shared 58½ years of marriage; his son, Mike (Tracy) of Knoxville, Iowa; his son, Jeff (Katherine) of Cedar Falls, Iowa; and his daughter, Julie of Robins, Iowa. He was blessed with ten grandchildren: Jessica (Clint) Woodward, John Cochran, Mikey (Bernie) England, Richard (Tiffany) England, Stephan (Bing) Spencer, Christopher Schminke, Alex England, Lucas England, Zach England, and Justin (Ellis) Winterroth. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren: Casen Woodward, Parker Woodward, Gracelyn Woodward, Miya Spencer, Ezra England, and baby Harold England.

Harold is also survived by his sister, Janet Tietge of Minneapolis, Minnesota; brother-in-law, Jim (Carla) Bowers of Phoenix, Arizona; sister-in-law, Deb (Tobe) Werner of Manchester, Iowa; brother-in-law, Doug (Rose) Bowers of Marion, Iowa; sister-in-law, Paula (Charlie) Franks of Ely, Iowa; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Leota England; his brother, Bryce England; his sister, Leni Brandt; his brother-in-law, David Brandt; and his great-grandson, baby Cal England.
