Harold Ladendorf Obituary

Harold C. Ladendorf, 92, of St. Joseph passed away Friday, July 26, 2024, at Corewell Health Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph.

A celebration of life graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, 2024, in Galien Cemetery with Pastor Calandra Nevenzel officiating. Military rites will be conducted by Stevensville American Legion Post #568. Memorial donations in Harold's name may be made to VFW Post #1137 in Watervliet. Harold was born Dec. 15, 1931, in Hagar Township to Felix and Martha (Watkins) Ladendorf. He graduated from Benton Harbor High School, Class of 1949. Harold enlisted in the U.S. Army and served his country during the Korean War.

On Aug. 7, 1954, he married the former Marion Demler at Zion United Church of Christ in Baroda. Harold was employed at D.C. Cook Nuclear Plant in Bridgman in the maintenance department, retiring after years of service. He was a member of Zion United Church of Christ in St. Joseph, where he previously served as treasurer, and an active member of VFW Post #1137. In his free time, Harold enjoyed golfing, woodworking and hosting family and friends for his backyard fish fries. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Harold is survived by his, daughter Sandra (Ken) Mattner of Arlington, Texas, his son-in-law and good friend, Greg Kent of St. Joseph; four grandchildren: Kenneth (Ashley) Mattner, Megan (Jeremy) Mattner-Solis, Matthew (Gil) Drews, Krista (Mike) Morris and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marion, on Oct. 30, 2022; his daughter, Pam Drews on Jan. 17, 2024 and his sister.
