Harold lived a long, accomplished and extraordinary life. His greatest achievement, however, was raising four children who are themselves some of the kindest, loving and caring people I have ever known. The familial bond created by Harold and Lois, endures in their children and grandchildren. They are his greatest legacy.
On a personal note, Harold was extraordinarily kind and generous to me when I was a student in my 20s, at a time in my life when I had no family support of my own, and for that, I will always be grateful. I think of Harold and Lois often as I try to pay their kindness and generosity forward.

Harold was a great friend and was a lifetime mentor to me. He always was encouraging my career and extolling me to write more.

I will miss our times and his positive spirit together especially Thanksgiving 1983 in Bangkok.

My sympathy and prayers to the Lian family as a great Dad and wonderful friend.

All prayers

Harold was a part of my childhood, always sharing stories and sharing a smile. He and Lois exuded a warmth that made everyone feel welcome in their home. He will be missed.

I met Harold over 15 years ago. He was always very kind and very sweet. One of his delights was getting together with his friend at a particular restaurant, which they did monthly. Each time I saw him, I would ask him if he was on his way there. Sometimes it was yes, sometimes it was no. God speed my friend Harold. Already, I miss him dearly.

Harold Lian was a good man. He made you feel important. Harold's greatest accomplishment was his children who all became kind and generous people like their father. The stories of his life lives in through them.

I have known Harold since the Lian's moved to L.A. from Alaska in 1964. I spent alot of time at their house over the years and I was always amazed at the stories that Harold told. He was a great man and his passing is a huge loss to all. Much love to my dear friends!! xoxo

Condolences to all of Harold's relatives especially his sister, children and grandkids. Very impressive and comprehensive story of his life and accomplishments. He was a success in business and family life and he and Lois raised four great kids who showed their love and support for their dad during his final years.
