Dr. Harold Jacob Linnerud

When I was in grade school my cousin Harold was in high school. We usually only saw each other on holidays when the Linnerud clan got together to celebrate. In those days Crystal Lake was a long drive into the country. At about that time there was a TV commercial with the slogan "Readers are Leaders". Every time I heard that commercial, I thought of Harold, because whenever we got together it seemed like he had a paperback book sticking out of his back pocket, and it was almost always some science fiction novel. I like to think that those stories were the beginning of Harold´s love of science which, along with Barbara´s years of care and encouragement resulted in his illustrious career. I guess that slogan was true because Harold was truly a leader in his field. I always felt a little proud knowing that I shared a few genes with him. We will miss you Harold.
