Buddy was my grandfather. I don´t remember as much as I wish I did-after my parents divorced when I was little, we lost touch-but what I do remember is kindness and humor. He was funny in a quiet, genuine way, and he always made me feel comfortable.

One of my clearest memories is of his dog, Maggie, and the way he proudly showed me the tricks she could do. It´s a small moment, but it´s one I´ve carried with me.

I wish my children had the chance to know him. I know they would have loved him, and I know he would have loved them deeply
