I had Col. Mackey in both my junior and senior yrs in high school. An inspiring teacher, he also made the in-class IUPAC competitions fun. He will be remembered fondly and with great appreciation for having known him.

Mr Mackey was my chemistry teacher my senior year at HUHS. It was my hardest class in high school and I can remember all of us running up to see our exam grades posted on the door after each exam. He and Carl Eberly were both challenging and inspiring teachers I remember fondly these 37 years! May God bless them both.

I enjoyed Mr Mackey's Chemistry class. He always seemed to see the potential in his students. I have never forgotten Mr Mackey or his story of making torpedoes when at Berkeley. He was a great teacher. I am sorry to hear of his passing. My condolences to his family.

I am sorry to hear of Mr. Mackey passing but I am glad he had a full life and a very productive one also.

I took chemistry from Mr. Mackey when I was a sophomor and was a lab assistant my senior year 1967. He was a great teacher and very nice gentelman. He had a way of bringing chemistry, especially carbon chemistry, alive, very interesting, and fun. I have great memories from those days.

A few years after highschool Tim Harrah and I stopped by to say hi when Mr. Mackey was out in his yard and he gave me and Tim some advice; "Go to Alaska and work on the pipeline it will be a great adventure". Mr. Mackey was the greatest!

I have had many very good educators in my life. Harold Mackey and Carl Eberly were two of the very best. Chemistry is not a simple subject, but Mr. Mackey was a gifted instructor. I am very lucky to have been one of his students. I am pleased to read that he had a long, full, and happy life. He certainly deserved it. My deepest condolences to his family. I share your loss.
