Harold Lowe Polhemus, age 102 years, passed away Monday, July 21, 2025, at the Bridgeway Care Center, North Branch, New Jersey, after a short stay.
Born in Clover Hill, NJ, January 21, 1923, he was the son of the late Cornelius Cruser and Cora (Lowe) Polhemus.
He was a 1941 graduate of Flemington High School and retired from American Cyanamid in 1985, after thirty-five years with their accounting department.
After living in Clover Hill and Passaic, NJ, Harold had lived in Bridgewater Township, NJ for fifty-four years and then in Whitehouse Station, NJ for seven years.
In his earlier years, Harold enjoyed darts, bowling, fly fishing, and hunting.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Olga (Schaefer) Polhemus, his sisters, Helen Hall and Madaleine Welsh; his brothers, John Polhemus and Abram Polhemus; his son, Thomas Polhemus; and his grandson, Beau McGrath.
Surviving are his two daughters, Dorothy McGrath (Gary), and Jane Skrzyniarz (Ron), Thomas’s wife Barbara; his grandchildren: Danielle Gascoyne, Sarah Skrzyniarz and Brandon Skrzyniarz; and his great-grandchildren, Ella and Colson Gascoyne.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at 11:00 AM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ 08822. Interment will follow in the family plot at Clover Hill Cemetery, 890 Amwell Road, Clover Hill, NJ. Calling hour will be from 10:00 AM until the time of the service in the funeral home.
