Harold Sinkhorn Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Homes - Dublin on Mar. 13, 2026.
Harold Stanley Sinkhorn, 89," kicked the bucket", "bought the Farm" and was promoted to Heaven on March 11, 2026. He was born to Lucille (Lenz) Sinkhorn and Harold Sinkhorn in New Albany, Indiana on August 16, 1936. He liked mischief and adventure from the very beginning. He and his brother Orville would sneak into the movie theatre from the roof so they could save their money for candy and Cokes. He and his uncle Paul and cousin Carol liked to ride their bikes by the local sanitarium and play in the creek. His love of movies, mischief, and travel continued when he joined the Army. He served honorably in Korea. He loved everything about the Army except when they made him jump out of perfectly good airplanes. He often talked about refereeing for Bobby Knight, meeting Bob Hope, and the time Rita Marino told him he had beautiful blue eyes, (He loved that, because he was a big flirt). He served in the Army for twenty-two years and retired Sgt. First Class. He loved John Wayne, and westerns, and was convinced everyone else did too. He enjoyed bowling and once appeared on Bowling for Dollars. He was a huge I.U. fan and after watching the I.U. football team go undefeated and win the National Championship he stated, "I have seen everything, and I can go now." (We wish you wouldn't have said that dad.) The only thing Harold loved more than bowling, movies, and travel was his family. He raised Army brats all around the world, and locally in Indiana.

He was preceded in death by his mom, Lucille (Lenz) Sinkhorn; father, Harold Sinkhorn, stepfather, Andy Hamilton; beloved brother, Orville Steproe, and his son, David.

He is survived by his wife of forty-years, Fredonna (Rogers) Sinkhorn; his children, Steven, Teresa, Donald (Jilayne), Laura, Darren, Brandi (Ram), and Traci; grandchildren, Serena, Sarah, Scotty, Autumn, Cheyanne, Dustin, Jilian, Jordon, Jilian, Cassidy, Samuel, Joseph, and Caitlin; great-grandchildren, Dylan, Harmony, Henry, Julian, Nava, and Devorah.

If you would like to celebrate Harold's life, go out to dinner at Golden Corral or Burger King (they have a great bathroom). He was also partial to Dr. Pepper, Reeses Pieces, and spaghetti, or just have a Coke and a smile.
