Harold F. Sivey, age 98, of Fredericktown, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, January 16, 2026, at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus.
He was born on August 25, 1927, in Bellefontaine, Ohio, the son of Jesse and Ova (Wallace) Sivey. Harold was a 1945 graduate of the Seventh Day Academy in Mount Vernon and was a member of the Mount Vernon Hill Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Harold began his working life at Pittsburgh Plate and Glass before spending many years as an independent masonry contractor. He later started a career in trucking, first as an independent owner and operator and eventually as a truck driver with Smalls Sand and Gravel and UPI. Throughout his life, Harold was known for his strong work ethic and his unwavering dedication to providing for his family.
In his free time, Harold enjoyed caring for his yard and maintaining his flower garden. Above all else, he treasured the time spent with his loving family, which brought him his greatest joy.
He is survived by his wife, the love of his life and would have celebrated 79 years of marriage this year, Carol (Ross) Sivey, whom he married on July 5, 1947, his children, Michael (Rhonda) Sivey of Fredericktown, Rebecca (John) May of Fredericktown, his grandchildren, Jason (Ana) Young, Joshua (Tirza) Young, Jared (Rachel) Young, Avery (Tyler) Berg and Taylor Stevens, great grandchildren, Kayla Higgins, Jordan Young, Jaden Taylor, Kelsy Santana, Jonathan Young, Alexis Stringfellow, Griffin Young, Gracen Young, Aedon Walker, Camille Young, Gabriel Berg, Malachi Berg and Jeremiah Berg, and five great great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Lowell (Millie) Sivey.
Besides his parent he was preceded in death by a daughter, Elizabeth Sivey, a brother, Charles Sivey and a sister, Helen Carter.
Friends may call on Monday, January 19, 2026, from 11am to 12 pm at the Mount Vernon Hill Seventh-day Adventist Church, 535 Wooster Road, Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050 where a service will begin at 12 pm. Pastor Chuck Gadway will be officiating. The family will observe a private graveside in Workman Cemetery in Danville.
