Harold (Hal) R. Smith
Freeland, Michigan
Hal passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at Stone Crest Assisted Living in Freeland, MI. He was 85 years old. Harold R. Smith was born on March 5, 1938, in Newton, Kansas, to the late J. Harold and Mildred (Risdon) Smith. He was married to Vicki (Tessman) Smith on April 25, 1992, in Saginaw, and she survives him. His is also survived by their son, Jerrod (Natalee) Clement and grandson Thomas; his brother, Lynn Smith; his sister, Amy Smith and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
Prior to his retirement, Hal was the director of Big Brothers Big Sisters in Saginaw and Bay City for over 30 years. He loved playing trombone in numerous bands around Michigan, Renaissance Jazz Band, Touch of Brass Quintet, Just Trombones, and Frankentrost Band. Hal was also quite the car enthusiast, participating in several car shows in the area.
In accordance with Hal's wishes, cremation and a private memorial service have taken place. Those wishing to express their memories and sympathies of Hal may share them on his memorial website at WakemanFuneralHome.com
