Harold T. Swift

1936 - 2024

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Harold T. Swift, 87, formerly of Clearfield, passed away on Oct. 26, 2024 at home in Tallahassee, FL after a long illness.

He was born on Nov. 25, 1936 in Clearfield, the son of Harold D. and Hazel (Baney) Swift. He is a member of West Side Methodist Church in Clearfield.

Mr. Swift served in the U.S. Air Force from 1955-1959, serving in Okinawa at the end of the Korean War. He was employed by the Federal Aviation Administration at the Washington Air Route Traffic Control Center in Leesburg, VA from 1960-1985. His second career was with Andy's Cabinets (Tallahassee, FL) from 1986-1999. He was an instrument rated pilot.

He enjoyed woodworking, gardening and traveling. Swifty and his wife toured all 50 states, 10 Canadian provinces, the Caribbean, and parts of Mexico.

Mr. Swift belonged to the American Legion in Clearfield and had served on the honor guard, also V.F.W., Elks, Moose, and the Quiet Birdmen in Tallahassee (pilots).

He is survived by his wife Beverly (Swisher) Swift, whom he married on Oct. 23, 1954. They had a loving marriage for 70 years. They had two children, Shirley Yvonne Schroyer (Bill) of Tallahassee, FL, and Harold Ronald Swift (Sheila) of Hayesville, NC; granddaughter Jessica Lassoued (Mehrez) and grandson William Hardy of Tallahassee; and six great-grandchildren.

Mr. Swift was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Shirley Swift; grandfather, Thomas Swift; and grandmother, Anna R. Wagner (Thomas Wagner); and grandparents, William and Annie Baney.

Honoring Mr. Swift's wishes there will be no public visitation or services. There will be an honor guard ceremony at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. Todd Wahlquist is assisting the family with their arrangements (850-385-2193, www.bevisfh.com).
