Harold Tubbs was born September 8, 1950, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, to Lewis Rogers and Alice Tubbs. He passed away May 28, 2025, in Columbia, Missouri, at the age of seventy-four years.
Harold grew up in Moundville, Alabama, where he played football and graduated from High School. He attended Marion Military Institute and graduated from the University of South Alabama at Livingston. In later years, he received his MBA from the University of Missouri, Kansas City, and PHD (abd) from the University of Missouri-St. Louis. After retiring, Harold returned to school at State Tech, receiving an Airframe and Powerplant Certification.
Harold started his career in manufacturing in Alabama with HD Lee and Revere Copper and Brass. He came to Salem in 1982 with Barad Lingerie. He later opened his own factory, All American Apparel, employing fifty people in
Salem, Missouri for eleven years. Harold finished the last twelve years of his career at the University of Missouri, Rolla (MS&T) in International Affairs, traveling to many countries around the world recruiting students.
He loved traveling with his family, Sharon, Regina, Haley, and McKenna, making trips to Rome, Paris, Florence, Venice, London, Peru, and Brazil. He also loved football, playing in high school, some in college, and watching the game (especially if it was Alabama football). He was a collector of American and English sports cars. In his free time, he raced sports cars, traveling to races throughout the Midwest, including the Indianapolis Speedway. Harold received his private pilot's license and flew his own airplanes.
Harold is survived by his wife: Sharon Tubbs of Salem MO; daughter: Regina Kellmann and significant other Danny Bragg of Columbia, MO; two granddaughters: Haley Kellmann of Fayetteville, AR and Mckenna Kellmann of Jonesboro, AR; he is also survived by three brothers: George Tubbs (Susan) and David Tubbs (Gina) of Birmingham AL, and Robert Tubbs (Marie) of Moundville, AL; one sister: Joanna Middlebrooks of Birmingham, AL; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents: LR and Alice (Chandler) Tubbs; and one sister: Jeaneen Hamilton.
Although he lived in Missouri for over forty years, Harold never forgot his heritage state of Alabama. He will be deeply missed by those who loved him most.
Funeral Services for Harold Tubbs were held Saturday, May 31, 2025, in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Pastor Chuck Whitmire officiating. Special Music was provided by Ed Morris singing "Amazing Grace" and "How Great Thou Art". Serving as Pallbearers were Dr. Steve Watson, Danny Bragg, Karl Dittman, John Whelan, Guthrie Scaggs, and Larry Steelman. Honorary Pallbearers were Bill Huffman and Dr. James Gray. Burial was in the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of
Salem, Missouri.
