Harriet Aaron, 85, of Shelton, died on August 8, 2025 (but not without a fight).
Born in New Haven, Kip-the childhood nickname she re-adopted in middle age-spoke fondly of her early days on "the Boulevard." She stayed close to home almost all her life, living in Easton for many years with her husband, Allan, before they relocated to Trumbull and then Shelton.
A graduate of Lasell Junior College, Kip was proud to have served as executive secretary to the president of Saab's U.S. operations. She was also proud to have left that job when she felt mistreated by another executive there (not her boss, whom she liked a lot).
That was Kip: Guided by her own inner compass, always authentic, and not terribly concerned what others thought as a result.
She was concerned, however, about her family, and her chosen family. Her primary occupation was caregiver: To her children, to whom she passed on her dogged nature; to her mother, whose final years were brightened under her watch; to her husband, whom she tended with devotion through his final years; and also to her many friends, for whom she was always ready to offer support.
Many of those friends were also co-workers at the former Bodytalk in Westport, where she worked for many years and availed herself of the employee discount to remain impeccably styled and au courant.
Kip is predeceased by her husband, Allan, to whom she was married 52 years before he passed in 2019, as well as her parents, Marion and Jack Kipperman. She was the proud mother of Kimberly Block (Josh) and Kenneth Aaron (Hadley Kruczek-Aaron); grandmother of Jordan, Nelle, Jack, Miles, Marni and Henry; stepmother to Lori Abramson (Joel) and Tamara Giles-Vernick (Ken); and four step grandchildren.
A service will be held Sunday, Aug. 17, at 11 a.m. at Congregation B'nai Israel Cemetery, 201 Kings Highway E., in Fairfield.
Special thanks to all of the healthcare professionals who cared for Kip over the past year, and especially those at the Hebrew Home of Greater Washington, where she was treated with skill and dignity to the end.
