Harriet Todd Wald was born on September 4, 1936 in Stanley, WI to Harry and Katherine L. (Samplawski) Wald. She was raised in Stanley where she received her education, graduating from Stanley High School in 1954. She then attended Stevens Point Normal School and received her teaching certificate. Harriet was united in marriage to Lawrence J. Halida on May 28, 1955 at St. Mary's Polish National Catholic Church in Lublin, WI. She taught at the elementary school in Poynette, WI and later taught special education in Sparta, WI. In 1972, they moved into Loyal where they lived until they finished building a home northeast of town and began farming. Harriet farmed with her husband until retiring from farming in 2001. They resided in their home until moving to Clark County Rehab & Living Center in 2021.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and was a Cub Scout Den Leader for several years.
Harriet had many interests, including spending time with her family, her time spent on the farm, reading, playing cards, and watching the Packers and Brewers. She also was a great animal lover, especially her cats, and enjoyed traveling with her husband when they were younger. Harriet was a very compassionate and understanding person who was loved by all.
She will be dearly missed by her husband, Lawrence, of Loyal, WI; her children: Lynn Wilson of Weston, WI, Kimberly Halida of Marshfield, WI, Larry (Crystal) Halida of Bowling Green, KY, and Cheryl Halida of Marshfield, WI; five grandchildren: Katilyn Halida, Tyler Halida, Bradley Schneider, Natalie Halida and Lindsay Halida; one brother: Ken (Karen) Wald of Fountain City, WI; three sisters: Jan (Daryl) Neigebauer of Owatonna, MN, Mary (Craig) Schroeder of Morristown, MN and Debbie (Jerry) Kjesbo of Altoona, WI; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Harriet was preceded in death by her parents.
Our family would like to thank everyone for their support and compassion during this time.
