Harry W. K. Aiu passed away peacefully at the age of 91 at Life Care Center of Kona on September 19, 2025. He was born in Honalo on March 30, 1934, where he grew up with his siblings. Harry attended and graduated from Konawaena High School, and following, enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he served for two terms.

Following his enlistment, he returned to Hawai'i where he married his wife Naomi Kawamoto in 1961. He enjoyed years of work on a Pu'uwa'awa'a Ranch, where they welcomed and laid to rest their first daughter Elizabeth Anne. He and Naomi settled in Honalo and Harry began work for the Hawaiian Telephone Company. Here they raised their three daughters: Pua, Roxy, and Anna. In 1993 he retired from the Hawaii Telephone Company as lead lineman.

After his well-earned retirement, Harry enjoyed reading the paper, weaving lauhala with his wife, and being a devoted member of Helani Congregational Church. He was a moderator and fixture in the Sunday worship crew where he showed his talents with the guitar. Harry served on the West Hawaii Council of Hawaiian Congregational Churches (WHCHCC) as president for many years. As president, he represented the WHCHCC on the State Council of Hawaiian Congregational Churches (SCHCC) Board of Directors. He also served on the SCHCC Repair and Maintenance committee.

After Naomi passed, he spent the last two years of his life in the state of Alaska. He spent his time watching the soaring eagles, local float planes, and the snow-covered mountains. He developed a deep love of the peacefulness and nature Alaska had to offer.

Harry is survived by his three daughters and their family: Roxy (Scott), Ku'ulei and Melia Miller of Soldotna, Alaska; Pua (Chris), Jordyn, Jett, and Jolie Mantz of Keaau; and Anna (Francis) Liilinoe and Haunani Quitazol of Maui and along with his numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the care and dedication of the team at Life Care Center of Kona who treated Harry as if he was their own Ohana during his last moments. Harry was able to find community wherever he went. He was well loved and adored by those he met, and he remained steadfast in his faith and positivity. Although he had much love left for life at the age of 91, he was ready when our Lord called him home.
