Harry Bean Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home on Feb. 16, 2026.
GILFORD ---- Harry Herbert Bean, 71, of Saltmarsh Pond Road, passed away on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at Beth Israel Hospital, in Boston, MA.

Harry was born on December 5, 1954, in Laconia, the son of Harry A. Bean and Thelma L. (Blackey) Bean.

Harry bought his first piece of property in 1972 in the city of Laconia, NH. He built a business rooted in our community. He took pride in all that he did. He worked for his parents' family business as a restaurant manager for many years while acquiring additional properties. Harry and his wife also raised AKC puppies for a number of years.

Harry enjoyed hunting with his dad, fairs, flea markets, and yard sales with both his parents and his wife. He was a World Champion Arm Wrestler and a member of Granite State Arms Arm-Wrestling Team. Dressing up as Santa to spread cheer was one of his favorite hobbies. He loved riding his Harley and going on cross-country bike trips with friends and family. The love for his Great Danes Rudoph and Vixen is an entirely different story.

Harry ran for State Representative in 2018 and served the NH House and the people of our state for 8 years. His seat number at the State House was 1017; it was his favorite. He served on the Belknap County Republican Committee for 12 years. Harry won the Norris Cotton award for his above and beyond commitment, effort and support for the Belknap County Republican Committee. He would listen even if he did not agree. Harry was on the Gilford Budget Committee for 3 years. He was a State Representative for 4 terms. He was also a member of the Rod and Gun, the Elks, and The American Legion. He loved his big red barn for hosting the caucuses and barbeque gatherings.

Harry is survived by his loving wife, Priscilla Bean, aka Hop, of 54 years; son Harry Bean and daughter-in-law Tina Bean; daughters Tricia (Bean) Roy and son-in-law Mark Roy, Jesaka and son-in-law Dusty McGough; mother Thelma L. Bean; brothers Rocky Bean and his wife Valerie, and Danel Bean and his wife Leslie; sisters Cindy Murphy, Tammy and her husband Calvin Dunn, and Sheri Dow; 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Harry is predeceased by his father Harry A. Bean; brothers Brian and Ronny; brothers-in-law John Dow and James Murphy; sister-in-law Debbie Bean; grandparents Harry and Ethel Bean, Herb and Bea Blackey, and Agnes Blackey; great-granddaughter Rori Bean; and nephews Shawn Murphy and Brandon Dunn.

Harry has many family members and friends that he also leaves behind. The family would like to give a special shout out to Badger and Pete. Harry was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. His dedication to his family and the community was like no other.

Calling Hours will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2026, from 2:00pm - 5:00pm, in the Carriage House at Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH 03246.

Celebration of life will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2026, from 11:00am – 2:00pm at 234 Saltmarsh Pond, Gilford, NH, in the big red barn.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that a memorial donation in Harry's name be made to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical FICU, 330 Brookline Avenue, 4th Floor, Boston, MA 02215.
