Harry J. Buffington

HARRY J. BUFFINGTON, age 92, of Kennett Square, PA, passed away on Friday, October 2, 2009, at Linden Hall Nursing Home. He was the husband of Elizabeth Foster Buffington, who passed away in 1987, and with whom he shared over 40 years of marriage. Born in Rosedale, PA, he was the son of the late Harry S. and Belle Glasglow Buffington. He was a longtime resident of Kennett Square, and a 1935 graduate of Kennett High School. Harry was a Section Head at Longwood Gardens for 30 years, retiring in 1984. He was a member of the Longwood Fire Company, the Kennett Grange No. 19 and the International Order of Odd Fellows. He is survived by one son, Carl Jay Buffington of Lancaster, PA, one daughter, Mary Ann Pry of Newark, DE, a grandson, Chris Buffington and his wife Kristy of York, PA, and one great-granddaughter, Landri Buffington, two brothers, Carl Buffington of Oxford, PA and Robert Buffington of Williamsburg, VA. He was also predeceased by his second wife, Mary Pratt. You are invited to visit with Harry's family and friends from 12:00 to 1:00 on Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at the Kuzo & Grieco Funeral Home, 250 West State Street, Kennett Square, PA. His funeral service will follow at 1:00. Burial will be in Lower Brandywine Cemetery, Wilmington, DE.
