Harry Burton

I worked alongside Harry briefly in Jakarta from May to July 2001. He was always very cheery and welcoming to me, whether out in the field, or at the Cinnabar, journalists' favourite hangout in Jakarta. I was shocked and deeply saddened when I learned of his death in Afghanistan.

I have left my journalism career now to work in diplomacy. But I often regret having done so, especially when I think of the happy and purposeful outlook on life Harry had, along with many of our colleages.
