Harry Thomas Hackman, age 85, passed away on Wednesday, May 7, 2025 at Roper Hospital.
Tom was born on July 13, 1939 to Harry Joseph Hackman and Margaret Walters Hackman of Dayton, Ohio. Following in his father’s footsteps, Tom spent his entire 36 year career with Dayco Products, where he began working the same day his father retired as CFO. He held various positions over the years. As Director of International Marketing, he was afforded the opportunity to travel all over the globe, including Europe, South America, Australia, the Middle East and the Far East. Those days of traveling and making friends were memories he always cherished.
He was a former member of Albemarle Supper Club and Carolina Yacht Club.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Motte Legare Hay; his daughter, Nancy Ann Sliauter of Charleston, SC; his son, Thomas Scott Hackman (Nicole) of Strongsville, Ohio; and three grandsons, Joshua A. Sliauter, S. Nicholas Hackman and J. Andrew Hackman.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, May 15, 2025, at Johns Island Presbyterian Church at 2:00 p.m. Arrangements are being handled by J Henry Stuhr, Inc., Downtown Chapel.
Memorials may be made to Johns Island Presbyterian Church, 2550 Bohicket Road, Johns Island, SC 29407.
