Harry Harger Honeycutt Jr.

Harry Harger Honeycutt Jr., 91, of Murphy, N.C., passed away Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2025, after a brief illness.
He was born in Nevada, Mo., but spent most of his childhood in Colorado Springs, Colo.
He enlisted in the United States Navy in October 1952 and attended naval electronics school. While stationed in Hawaii for two years, during his off-duty time, he enjoyed surfing and tennis. He served on the USS Curtiss (AV-4) as a Radio Mechanic II and spent a year at Bikini and Enewetak atolls and participated in Operation Redwing. Redwing was a United States series of 17 nuclear test detonations from May to July 1956. Harry received a national Defense Medal during his service in the Navy.
Harry received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from Indiana Technical Institute. He moved to Murphy, N.C., from Colorado Springs, Colo., in 1970 with his wife and two children to accept an engineering manager position at Clifton Precision Products, where he remained through 1985. Afterward, he taught computer classes at Tri-County Community College.
He loved to play golf and could often be found at the golf course perfecting his golf swing and offering golfing tips to fellow golfers as well as golf lessons.
He was the son of the late Harry Harger and Ora Geer Honeycutt.
Surviving are his loving and devoted wife of 70 years, Rosario "Rose" Baylosis Honeycutt; one son, Mike Honeycutt and wife Carol; one daughter, Pam Dickey and husband Chris; one granddaughter, Rachael Dickey; and one great-granddaughter, Chloe Dickey.
