Harry Long Jr.

Harry was a nice man and a good fellow and always easy to talk with. I would go downstairs from WRVA and chat with Harry and the gang often during my days there. Best wishes and he'll be missed.

Dear Cathy and Mary Beth,

Harry's legacy will live on at the John Marshall House. We will be planting an azalea bush in his memory in the gardens. He was a great man and we will all miss him tremendously.

There wouldn't have been a flamethrower of a Q without her engineer. Catherine & Mary Beth, I too, am a child of an engineer, my father and the power of radio, especially that of Q, lit the torch in my heart and soul. Of all my Q friends, because of all of my ties to Richmond's air and engineering, I wish I had gotten to know your father. From what I've heard he was a good, good man. I light and raise a candle in his memory.

My name is Bill Garcia. I was the first program director of Q94. Harry was one of the first people I met when I walked into the building. Beaver was our chief engineer and Harry was his "assistant". From the very first day, Harry was a friendly and welcomed ally of the Q. If I recollect he did most of the wiring of our studios. He loved the new "toys" we had. He was quiet and somewhat unassuming until you engaged him in conversation. I found him to be interesting, open-minded and knowledgeable about many other things besides engineering stuff. I think he loved the excitement and energy we brought to the building. He was anal about his logs no doubt but you knew he cared about what he was doing. He was part of our "family". May he rest in peace.

Harry was among the Greats. He made a world of friends. He set a high example to try to follow. I enjoyed his company for any years. We will miss him. I want you to know that you are in our prayers as you try to adjust to a new way of life without him.
