Harry Sheehan Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by James Funeral Home on Dec. 28, 2025.
Harry "Buddy" Melvin Sheehan Jr., 71, of Davidson, passed away Sunday, December 28, 2025, following a long and courageous 16-year battle with Parkinson's disease. He was born on August 8, 1954, in Morristown, Tennessee to the late Harry Melvin Sheehan, Sr. and Macie Plemmons Sheehan.

Harry, who was affectionately known by his family and friends as "Buddy," was a longtime member of Huntersville Presbyterian Church where he served on several committees as well as being an elder. In 2024, he was given the honor of being named an Elder Emeritus.

In 1976, he married the love of his life, Betty and in 1979, they settled in Huntersville, where together they built a life well rooted in faith, family and service.

Buddy is survived by his wife of 49 years, Betty BorateaSheehan; his children, Brian Sheehan (Lindsay), Benji Sheehan (Ali), and Brandi Green (John); and eight beloved grandchildren, Bay, Blythe, Della, Dabney Grace, Mackenzie, Mark, Thompson and Leighton. He is also survived by his loving sisters, Becky Sheehan (Kris) and Phyllis Ferguson (Brooks); and several nieces and nephews.

Buddy was known by many for his unwavering work ethic and servant leadership. Beginning his career as a warehouse worker, he rose through the ranks through dedication, humility, and integrity ultimately serving as Vice President of a large bottle and packaging company. His professional journey was a testament to his perseverance and character.

To countless families in Northern Mecklenburg County, Buddy was best known for his decades of coaching youth sports. Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, he coached youth baseball, winning multiple championships, but more importantly, shaping young lives through mentorship, discipline, and encouragement. His influence extended well beyond the field.

In his later years, Buddy faced Parkinson's disease with remarkable courage and resolve. He was a charter member of Rock Steady Boxing at HFFA and was instrumental in bringing the program to Huntersville, helping others fight the disease with strength, dignity and community.

Above all else, Buddy was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, coach, and friend. His legacy lives on in the family he loved, the lives he touched, and the example he set through hard work, perseverance and service to others.

The funeral service will be held on Sunday, January 4, 1pm, at Huntersville Presbyterian Church. The family will immediately receive friends following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Huntersville Presbyterian Church, Rock Steady Boxing at HFFA or The Michael J. Fox Foundation.

James Funeral Home, of Huntersville, is serving the family and obituary lovingly written by the family.

"Buddy" I enjoyed our time and talks before class, ranging from the latest Parkinson's developments to Sales Pipelines, we connected well on the subjects. From day one, Buddy was warm, kind and made us feel comfortable. I had just been diagnosed with Parkinson's and felt a bit hopeless- Buddy knew this and took me under his wing...we talked every class, he always asked how I was doing. When the Dallas Cowboys came to town, Buddy pulled some strings and gave me a couple of tickets- thanks again.

To our "Buddy", thank you for always being there for my wife and I...
YOU WILL BE MISSED, BUDDY-

Our sincere condolences to the family and to the Rock Steady Crew-Huntersville.
Warm regards and loving memories,
