Harry J. Welling Jr., 85, of West Newton, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 24, 2022, surrounded by his family.
He was born July 7, 1936, in Connellsville, the son of the late Harry J. Welling,Sr. and Thelma (Martin) Welling.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his infant brother, David Welling and his sister, Patricia (Welling) Gregg. He is survived by his brother Walter (Joyce) Welling and twin sisters Martha (Jerry) Hensel and Margaret (Paul) Fronczek. Left to cherish his memory are his seven children and their spouses, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren:
The Dean family of Cheryl (Sherry) and Frank: grandchild Nicole (Dean) Rogers and spouse Jason Rogers, great-grandchildren Elizabeth Bierhals, Sebastian Bierhals, and Henry Rogers, grandchild Aimee Elizabeth Dean (deceased), grandchild Rebekah (Dean) Anderson and spouse Scott Anderson, and great-grandchildren Liliana and Emelia Anderson.
The Welling family of Robert and Linda: grandchild Joshua Welling and spouse Erin, great-grandchildren Olivia and Ian Welling, grandchild Timothy Welling and spouse Jill, and great-grandchildren Zoey and Lexi Welling.
The Betters family of Marilyn (Meme) and Curtis: grandchild Marissa (Betters) Fenwick, great-grandchildren Maylanna and AJ Fenwick, and grandchild Joe Betters.
The Hawk family of Karen and Wendell: grandchild Steven J. Hawk (deceased on March 28, 2022) and surviving spouse Sharma, great-grandchild Brennen Hawk, grandchild Amanda (Hawk) Serra and spouse Jeffrey, and great-grandchildren Jackson, Jonah and Leo Serra.
The Welling family of Ronald: grandchild Valerie Welling, great-grandchild Nathaniel Mills, grandchild Angela Welling, and grandchild Dawn Welling.
The Gallo family of Judith and Dan: grandchild Billy Addis and spouse Kara, great-grandchildren William, Jagger, Wyatt, and Madilyn Addis, grandchild Kayne Newcomer and spouse Megan, great-grandchild Hartley Newcomer, grandchild Lee Newcomer and spouse Corrianne, great-grandchildren Claire and Nash Newcomer.
The Firestone family of Janis and Mark: grandchild Jordan Killinger and spouse Susan, great-grandchildren Roman and Griffin Killinger, grandchild Jade (Firestone) Murphy and spouse Sean, great-grandchildren Aria and Leia Murphy, and grandchild Sadie Firestone.
He is also survived by the mother of his children, Betty Richter.
He had a strong faith and was dedicated to serving the Lord. He was the owner and operator of his own window cleaning business for many years. Later in life, he joined the Collinsburg Volunteer Fire Department, where he enjoyed camaraderie and developed meaningful friendships with several other members. He loved serving where he was needed. He was known for his quick wit and for being well dressed. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
The Welling family will receive friends at the BROOKS FUNERAL HOME, 406 Washington St., Mt. Pleasant (724-547-3800) on Thursday, April 28, from 2 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Randy Newell officiating. Interment will follow at Normalville Cemetery.
