Harry Wright Obituary

Publish in a newspaper

Harry William Wright, III, a lifelong resident of Pequannock, passed away peacefully on September 26, 2025, at the age of 97.

Born one of nine children to Harry and Grace Wright, Harry grew up during the Great Depression, where he developed a deep appreciation for hard work and resourcefulness. He left high school early to help support his family, quickly learning the trade of bricklaying-a craft he would come to master and build a lifelong career upon. His early work can still be seen in the homes of Pompton Plains, and he was widely admired not only for his skill, but for the speed and precision with which he worked.

In 1950, Harry married the love of his life, Dolorita Quin. Together, they raised three children in the house he built for them and shared an extraordinary 75 years of marriage-a true match made in heaven. Shortly after their wedding, Harry was drafted into the United States Army. Following his service, he returned home to continue his work in masonry, a profession he pursued well into his 70s.

Harry was a humble, easygoing man who understood what truly mattered in life. He believed that success was measured not by wealth or possessions, but by the size of one's heart and the strength of their character. He found his greatest joy in time spent with family-especially hunting trips with his sons and grandsons, where cherished memories were made season after season.

An avid gardener, Harry maintained a thriving vegetable garden. His shelves were always lined with jars of homegrown vegetables, ensuring that no matter the times, there was always something to fall back on.

Family gatherings were the cornerstone of Harry's happiness. Whether celebrating milestones or simply spending time together, he was never more content than when surrounded by loved ones. He also shared countless cherished memories with his brother-in-law Fred at the family's summer home in Toms River.

Harry is survived by his wife, Dolorita; his children, Dolorita Parker (Ronald Cronk), Harry William Wright, IV(Catherine Lynn), Russell Wright; his siblings, William Wright and Helen Sinclair; his grandchildren, Jill Cronk, Brian Cronk (Carolyn), Amie VanAntwerp (Adam), Harry William Wright,V (Brittney), James Wright, Sarah Pietrucha (Peter), Jason Wright (Ana), Maryrose Wright; his great grandchildren, Sophia, Eliza, Rebekah, Alice, Mason, Emily and Owen; his sisters in-law, Lois Lautz and Evona Decker; and many nieces and nephews. Harry was predeceased by his siblings, Lorraine, Earl, Thomas, Edward, Hope and David.

Visiting hours will be held 10 am to 12 pm on Thursday, October 2 at Scanlan's-Where Life is Celebrated. A service will conclude the visitation period at 12 pm. Burial will follow at Laurel Grove Memorial Park, Totowa.
