Harvey Ing Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by O'ahu Mortuary on Mar. 30, 2026.
Harvey Nohea Kui Ing, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2026, in Honolulu, Hawaii, the city where he was born on December 14, 1941. He lived a life marked by generosity, humor, and intelligence, and he will be remembered with deep affection by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Born and raised in Honolulu, Harvey carried the spirit of the islands throughout his life. He was a proud son of Hawaii whose roots, values, and sense of community shaped the way he met each day. He was a man whose faith provided strength, comfort, and guidance throughout his life, and near the end…he returned to Christ.

Harvey was known for his generous heart and his quick wit. He had a gift for making people laugh, often at just the right moment, and his humor brought light to everyday conversations. He was also deeply intelligent, with a thoughtful mind and practical wisdom that made him a trusted voice among family and friends. Whether he was offering advice, sharing a story, or simply listening with care, he gave of himself freely and sincerely.

Harvey is survived by his sons, Greg Malie Ing, his eldest son, and Jonathan Nakui Ing, his youngest son. He also leaves behind seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, each of whom brought him great pride and joy. He cherished the time he spent with them and treasured the bonds that connected generations of his family.

Harvey's life reflected the strength of a man who understood the importance of hard work, loyalty, and kindness. His generosity was not limited to grand gestures; it was found in the everyday ways he cared for others, offered encouragement, and made room at the table for one more person. He had a way of making ordinary moments feel meaningful, and his family and friends will long remember the comfort of his company.
