78 year old, Harvey L. Kamminga, of Lake Village, passed away December 21, 2024, at his home.
On August 30, 1946, Harvey was born to George and Rose (Boersma) Kamminga, in Rensselaer, Indiana. Harvey gradated from DeMotte High School class of 1964. He owned and operated ‘Harv’s Welding’. He married the love of his life, Norma Hoffman, in Jasper County, on October 1, 1989. Harv liked being a fabricator, and enjoyed the challenge of creating anything. His favorite hobbies were his animals, driving donkeys (4-hitch, and 6-hitch) for over 20 years. He also created chariots, for racing donkeys at State Fairs, County Fairs, and raising money for many charities. He was an entrant in the Thanksgiving Parade in Chicago for 15 years. He also had many long-haired cows, he enjoyed.
Harv is survived by his loving family, wife: Norma, children: Angella Pierce, Amanda Blake, Chris Williams, Jeff (Tiffany) Williams, Chad (Rachelle) Williams, 24 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, siblings: Alvin Kamminga, Marilyn Rucker, and Paul (Karen) Kamminga.
Harv was preceded in death by his parents: George & Rose, and brother: Ron Kamminga.
Friends are invited to visit with the family from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 27, 2024 at Boersma Funeral Home, 90 E Grove St., Wheatfield, Indiana. Military service will take place at the funeral home at 5:30 p.m.
Per Harv’s wishes cremation will follow.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the ASPCA – Protection of Animals.
