Harvey Allen Shrader, 81, of Ravenna, Neb. died Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at home with his wife of 61 years, Betty E. Shrader.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, November 7, 2025, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Ravenna with Pastor Russell Bonine officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at the church. Online condolences can be directed to www.rasmussenfh.com.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to American Heart Association in Harvey's name.
Harvey was born on Feb. 20, 1944, in Ravenna, Neb. to Harvey H. Shrader and Eleanor A. Prochaska (Shrader). He grew up Kearney, Neb. and later moved to Ravenna, Neb. where he graduated from Ravenna High School.
Harvey was united in marriage to Betty Eileen Sanders on May 16, 1964, in Litchfield, Neb. After which the couple lived in Holdrege and Hasting, Neb. Later, the couple moved to Ravenna, Neb.
Harvey was proud to work for the Cornhusker Army Ammunition Plant, supplying ammunition for the Vietnam War.
For most of his life, Harvey was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Harvey was proud of his various calls to service for the church, including serving as an Elder. Harvey served his community as a volunteer EMT and AA Sponsor. Community members in Ravenna will remember Harvey as a champion for animals, no animal who showed up at his doorstep was ever turned away, and a friend who would answer any call for help.
Harvey is survived by his wife, Betty E Shrader of Ravenna, Neb.; his three daughters, Angela K. Shrader (Rachelle) serving in the U.S. Army, stationed at Fort Riley, Kansas, Suzie D. Young (Paul) of West Richland, Wash., and Jenny L. Walton (Curtis) of Omaha, Neb.; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Harvey was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey H. and Eleanor Shrader and his sister, Laura Anderson.
