Harvey Svee, 85, Lansford, passed away Wednesday, July 13, 2022 in his home.
Harvey Allen Svee was born April 6, 1937 to Axel Harold and Mildred Evelyn (Johnson) Svee on the family farm South West of Maxbass, ND. He was raised and educated in the Maxbass area. He attended school at Montrose and Maxbass Schools. After graduation Harvey furthered his education by attending the School of Forestry in Bottineau, ND.
Harvey had various jobs, he worked on the railroad, did construction at Minot Air Force Base, and worked on numerous missile sites. He worked on installing a radar system in Greenland. He worked in the oilfield in four states until he found his true calling when he started farming after his dad passed away.
Harvey was united in marriage to Francis Forrest in November of 1975 in Bottineau, ND. Francis passed away in 1979. His mom and niece Janice lived with him for a few years as well as several young people he mentored. He was single until he married Carol Shulze on January 5, 2013. They continued to live on the farm and they spent winters in Arizona and Texas with his sisters, Bertha and Helen.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing in Canada with his best friends, Bob, Buford, and Harley but most of the time he could be found in his shop working on or fixing something. He was a voracious reader as evidenced by the books in every room of his home. If he didn't know the answer to something, he had a book on it.
His loving family includes: Wife, Carol Svee, Lansford, ND; step-son, Alan (Athena) Poole, Magna, UT; sisters, Bertha Harper, Bismarck, ND, Helen Johnson and Betty Weise, both of Minot; brothers and sisters-in-law, Lois Bossert (Tim Schulz), Green Valley, AZ, Joan (Ken) Sharp, Hutto, TX, Betty Jo Lee, Dilworth, MN, and David (Laurie) Grenstiener, Shafer, MN; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Axel and Mildred Svee; wife, Francis; sister, Margaret; brothers-in-law, Ross Morrison, Gary Palen, Arlan Johnson, John Weise, Gene Harper and James Grenstiener; and nephew, Robert Morrison.
Memorial Service: Saturday, August 6, 2022, 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Glenburn, ND.
