Faye passed from this life on Tuesday, October 19, 2021, at the age of 90 years young and is no doubt dancing with Jesus. She was born on February 12, 1931, in Wilson, Oklahoma.
Faye is preceded in death by her mother, Louie Henderson; a sister, Lois Dean Thompson; brothers, Larry Joe Henderson and Orville Whitaker; and daughter-in-law, Laurie Mauldin.
Faye is survived by her son, Ronnie Mauldin and wife Debbie, of El Reno; her daughter, Dianne Moore and husband Gary, of El Reno; a brother, Jerry "Butch" Henderson of Fox, Oklahoma; grandchildren (and great grandchildren): Andy Jensen of Altus (Wyatt Jensen and Shayne Castrop), Keri and Pat Avant of El Reno (Zane Avant), Lesley and Roger McCauley of Steamboat Springs, CO (Kaili McCauley), Shaila and John Hicks of Shawnee (Austin and Lesley Grace Wiewel), Jay and Kyra Mauldin of El Reno (Carter, Harper, Lincoln and Grant Mauldin), Andrea and John Williams of El Reno (Anna and Kaitlyn Williams and Joey, Amanda, and Makayla Lierle), Katy and Eric Towell of El Reno (Etta and Freddy Towell), Heather and Eric Carr of Piedmont (Kloe and Julya Carr) and Shawn Briscoe of Glenpool (Cannon and Casen Briscoe); nieces and nephews, family, friends, and 23 years of students she lovingly taught in the El Reno Public School system.
Faye attended Fox Public Schools, and graduated high school in 1949. She married and moved to El Reno in 1950. Faye was a stay-at-home mom until her children entered junior high school. At that time, she joined the workforce and also became a part-time college student. She was among the first students to attend El Reno Junior College. Faye earned a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Southwestern State University, Weatherford, OK in 1971. She was a school teacher for El Reno Public Schools until she retired in 1994, having taught second grade at Lincoln School the majority of her career.
Faye enjoyed her memberships in the First Baptist Church, her Sunday School Class, Eastern Star, Amaranth, Retired Teachers, and NARVE. Among her favorite things to do were competitive ballroom dancing, teaching Sunday school, dressing up, and participating in the Red Bud Classic, where she ran/walked the 2-mile race for 29 years. She was extremely independent, having push-mowed her sizeable lawn into her 80's. She also enjoyed meeting with her morning coffee/breakfast group at McDonald's for many years. Faye truly treasured the people in her life and loved to feed anyone who came into her home.
The family extends heartfelt graditude to her amazing caregivers at River Oaks Nursing Center, Good Shepherd Hospice, and St. Katherine's Retirement Center.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in Faye's name to the El Reno Public School Foundation, P.O. Box 356, El Reno, OK 73036, to assist with grants for classroom needs, or a charity of your choosing.
