Hattie T. Walloch, age 94, of Yankton, South Dakota died on Monday, February 24, 2025 surrounded by family at the Good Samaritan Society in Tyndall, South Dakota.

Mass of Christian Burial is 10:00 AM, on Friday, February 28, 2025 at St. Benedict Catholic Church in Yankton with Reverend Darin Schmidt officiating. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Yankton. Visitation is from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, on Thursday, February 27 at the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home in Yankton with a rosary and vigil service at 7:00 PM. Visitation also continues one hour prior to the funeral at the church.  The Funeral Mass will be livestreamed at www.facebook.com\WintzRay

Pallbearers are all of Hattie’s grandchildren.

Hattie was born July 21, 1930 on the farm in rural Yankton County to Joseph and Hattie (Vanacek) Kotalik. She attended Tabor High School and worked at a Yankton restaurant where she met her future husband, Lawrence. They married on January 12, 1955 and farmed four and a half miles west of Lesterville. She taught CCD classes at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Lesterville for 15 years. After moving to Yankton, Hattie worked in the kitchen at Sacred Heart Monastery while taking odd jobs cleaning homes and apartments. Hattie was very proud of her Czech heritage and loved making pies, breads, kolaches and Czech food and pastries for her family and friends. She took great delight in watching “her cowboy shows,” especially if they featured John Wayne or Matt Dillon. Hattie always enjoyed visiting with her sisters and absolutely loved spoiling her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Hattie is survived by four children: Richard (Peggy) Walloch of Scotland, SD, Deb (Michael) McDonald of Sioux Falls, SD, Dennis (Pam) Walloch of Tabor, SD and Jean (Don) Peitz of Yankton; 12 grandchildren: Laura (Chris) Vodika, Terry (Amber) Walloch, Jacob (Jenny) Walloch, Aaron Walloch (Becca), Susan (Chris) Richards, Amanda (Kyle) Dietz, Heather (David) Voorman, Sean (Shannon) McDonald, Jesse (Tiffany) Hallen, Chris (Nicole) Hallen, Brenda (Spencer) Warren and Brandon Peitz (fiancé, Erin); 20 great grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy (Joe) Drotzmann of Ellensbury, WA and Delores Bohlmann of Yankton; and many nieces and nephews.

Hattie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lawrence; seven siblings: Frances (Harold) Tacke, Viola (Pete) Peterson, William (Frances) Kotalik, Ervin (Grace) Kotalik, Adolph (Margie) Kotalik, Joseph Kotalik and Donald Kotalik; and a brother-in-law, Robert Bohlmann.

The family would like to thank the Good Samaritan Society of Tyndall for the excellent care Hattie received at their facility.
