Celebrating the life of Hayden Lynn Mitchell, who left us on November 9, 2025. Born on September 13, 1947, in Cleveland, Texas, Hayden grew up to be a dedicated and passionate individual who called Longview, Texas his home.

Lynn graduated from Longview High School in 1966. Before advancing his studies at Baylor University, his professional journey was as dynamic as it was inspiring, starting with his service in the United States Air Force. During the Vietnam War, he served as a Reconnaissance Officer in Thailand, a role he approached with the utmost dedication and bravery.

After his military service, Lynn's career took a creative turn. He worked for Lawrence Laboratories in Livermore, California, and later found his calling in East Texas as a photojournalist for KLTV News. Photography wasn't just a job for Lynn; it was a passion. He loved taking and editing photos, capturing moments of clarity and beauty through the lens of his camera.

Lynn leaves behind his nieces, Dawn Miller of Longview, and Susan Riley and her husband Mike of Graham; his nephew Keith Miller and his wife Chyrisse of Austin; along with seven great-nieces and nephews, and ten great-great-nieces and nephews. He is also survived by three cousins who will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, R.L. and Marvel Hawk Mitchell, his brother Gilbert Miller, sister-in-law Sandra Miller, as well as his beloved Aunt Lynn Martin and Uncle H.L. Martin.

Lynn's life was marked by his resilience, creativity, and the deep connections he fostered with those around him. As we remember Lynn, we think of a life well-lived and full of purpose. His legacy in the fields of military service and photojournalism will undoubtedly continue to inspire those who knew him and the many lives he touched through his work and passion.

In honor of Lynn's memory, his family invites you to reflect on his impactful life and cherish the memories they shared. His spirit will remain a guiding light to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Honoring his requests, cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Horn Family Funeral Home and Cremations. His wishes were no services; however a small memorial may be planned at a later date.
