Hayden Alexander Smart

Hayden Alexander Smart entered Heaven on Thursday, April 3, 2024. At just 18 years of age, Hayden nevertheless made his mark on this world, bringing his gifts of light and joy to his family and everyone who knew him.
Always one to help those who needed it, Hayden often helped his elderly next-door neighbor with her yard work. He also worked with his Pap to create a web page for his business and traveled with him on business trips.
Known for his goofy playfulness, Hayden loved to laugh and keep everyone on their toes with off-beat sayings and hilarious jokes. He loved playing games and enjoyed computer games like Rainbow Six Siege and Geometry Dash, among others. He also enjoyed board games and playing cards, his favorite game being Wizard. Baseball was his game of choice (go Cleveland!), and he played in several baseball rec leagues for 13 years.
He graduated from Rolesville High in June 2023 and attended Wake Tech. He had just started working for Lowe's Foods as a cashier. He was planning on further attending East Carolina University for cybersecurity. Though his plans for the future were cut short, Hayden's impact on his family and friends will last a lifetime. He was preceded in death by his Nanaw, Nancy Capps, and leaves behind a brokenhearted tribe: his parents, Rob and Kathy Smart of Raleigh; his brother Bobby and sister Daisy; his grandparents, John Capps of Henderson, NC and Bob and Dorothy Smart of Austintown, OH; his aunts and uncles: Charlie and Beth Carroll of Henderson, NC; Johnny and Claire Capps of Hillsborough, NC; Curt and Julie Stanislaw of Berlin Center, OH; and Barry and Tricia Smart of Austintown OH; and cousins Wesley Carroll, Ryan Capps, Hunter and Sydney Smart.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 10th, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Bryan~Lee Funeral Home on Wake Forest Road in Raleigh. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 11th, at 2:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church on Church Street in Henderson, NC. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation - Carolina chapter in Hayden Smart's name.
