Hayward Bullard, Jr. was born November 3, 1943. He was the 2nd child born to the union of the late Hayward Bullard, Sr. and Lessie B. Solomon Bullard.
He was affectionately known and called by the nickname in the Mixsontown and Campbell Hill communities as "Popalap" and "Pop". He attended the local schools of Duval County. He was united in Holy Matrimony to Leila Mae Walker Bullard. He worked many years as a local cab driver. Later, he became a Merchant Seaman until his health began to decline. Before his transition, he declared, accepted, and professed the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior.
Hayward loved spending time with his family; especially playing cards with his cousins Dot and Herschel. He also enjoyed the laughter and fun times with his great-grandchildren, Dennis, III aka his "Shug Rock" and A'Niyah.
He was preceded in death by his one son: Retired Navy Chief Antonio Walker; four sisters: Hazel Harris, Beatrice Harris, Annie Mae Collier, and Rita Bullard.
He leaves behind to cherish his fond memories, wife of 61 years, Leila Mae Walker Bullard; four children: Tommy R. Carter, Antionette Hampton-McCrary, Valencia Y. Bullard, and Hayward Bullard, III; One son-in-love: Wilbert McCrary; Three daughters-in-love: Doris Carter, Aurora Walker, and Susan Bullard; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren; loving and devoted brother, Joseph Bullard; devoted brother in law, James Walker, Jr.; two devoted sister in laws, Ellen Walker and Melissa Duncan; a host of nephews, nieces, relatives, and friends; especially his closest friends: "Bear", Troy, and Leroy.
