Hazel Boven (Warsen) from Byron Center, MI (formerly of McBain) passed away on Saturday, February 14, 2026.
Hazel and Gene had been members at Sandy Pines for 47 years and had many cherished memories with family and lots of friends.
Hazel worked for American Greetings for many years. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, crafts, and making puzzles.
Hazel is lovingly remembered and survived by her two daughters: Brenda Boven (Tom Shay) and Roxanne (Tim) Bareman. 7 grandchildren: Paul (Jenna) Bandstra, Krysten Bandstra, Kelsey Bandstra, Chad (Brittany) Bareman, Andrea (Chad) Czyzewicz, Ryan Bareman, and Alisa (Logan) Windham. 9 Great-grandchildren: Braylee, Jameson, Tye, Lillian, Jadyn, Beckett, Everett, Brooklyn, and Camryn Gene. Sister Marilyn (Ron) Boven and sister-in-law Marlene Davis, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Hazel was proceeded in death by her husband of 62 years, Gene Boven, parents Gerrit and Margaret Warsen, and sisters Geneva Doornbos and Delores Warsen.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Those wishing to offer expressions of sympathy are encouraged to make a memorial contribution to Sandy Pines Lakeside Chapel, which was so very dear to Hazel’s heart. 3794 Rain Tree, Hudsonville, Mi 49426.
