Hazel Nadine Broadus of Pascagoula, Mississippi, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family, on October 14, 2025, following an unexpected stroke which left her physically impaired. Hazel was born June 19, 1944, into a family of eleven children in Greenwood, MS.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ezard Oneal Walls and Bessie Eulene Walls; her husband, Raymond Frederick Broadus; two sons, Rayford Carl Brewer and Calvin Eugene Brewer; brothers, Derwood Walls and Paul Walls; sisters, Peggy McElroy, Nora Ruth Gregg, Alice Fay Rosamond, Doris Walls, and Zelma Kent.
Hazel is survived by a large family that will carry on the legacy that she leaves. These include: two brothers, Kenny Walls, Lucedale, MS, David (Cindy) Walls, Helena, MS; one sister, Ruby Shelton, Carrollton, MS; two daughters, Tonya (Stanley) Turonis, Gambrills, MD, and Teresa (James) Silk, Ft. Worth, TX; daughters-in- law Teresa Brewer, Christie Clark, and Konnie Brewer; grandchildren: Chance Turonis, Stanley Turonis, Ashley (Austin) Tarantino, Chase (Chasity) Silk, Jonathon (Autumn) Silk, James (Spring) Silk, Christine (Michael) Johnson, Ken (Sara) Brewer, Jonathan Brewer, Rachel Brewer and Layne, Ret Brewer, and Lee (Trish) Baxter; great-grandchildren: Gage (Brianna) Patricola, Heather (Justin) Knight, Elizabeth Grace Johnson, Lillian Johnson, Charleigh Rae Johnson, Kolton Silk, Blakely Silk, Sage Silk, Weston Tarantino, Myles Tarantino, Jon-Calvin Brewer, Holden Brewer, Aubrie-Kay Brewer, Adelynn-Mae Brewer.
Hazel was born and raised in north MS but later moved to the Gulf Coast, where she raised her four children. Her happiest moments were when she was surrounded by her family and while traveling to different places across the country with them.
She was deeply devoted to the Lord and served him unashamedly by teaching Sunday School, Missionettes, Children's Ministry, serving on the Worship Team, as an Altar Worker, in the Ministry of Helps, Visitation, Server, or in whatever capacity she was asked.
Two highlights of her life were traveling to Kenya, Africa, on a Mission Trip and another was serving at Camp Ablaze, Lillian, AL, where she worked in food preparation for the Interns training in ministry.
She also worked and served as Food Services Director for the Bahia Oaks Retirement Center, Sarasota, Florida, for several years.
Many knew her as a devoted Intercessory Prayer Warrior, and those who called on her to pray knew that she would certainly fulfill that request. She faithfully attended Southern Gate Church in D'Iberville, MS, and filled a most important place on the Prayer Team and in the Altar Ministry.
She will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her, but her legacy will live on through the many lives she touched through her service, dedication, and sincere devotion to Jesus Christ.
Funeral Services will be held at The Bridge United Methodist Church, 3179 Mallett Rd, #18, D'Iberville, Mississippi 39540, on 10AM Monday, October 20, 2025. The Reverend Hardy Jones will be officiating.
The Friends Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. and the Service will begin at 10:00 a.m. There will be an Interment Service at Biloxi National Cemetery, at 400 Veterans Blvd,
Biloxi, Mississippi 39531 at 12:30 p.m.
