Hazel V. Cauffman (nee Keller), 95, of Newtown, PA, died on January 6, 2025 at Chandler Hall in Newtown, PA. Hazel was born June 21, 1929 in Chambersburg, PA.
Hazel was raised on the family farm in Franklin County PA, along with brothers Harold R. Keller and Dean G. Keller. She went on to graduate as a registered nurse from the Temple School of Nursing, where she met her future husband Dr. William J. Cauffman. Together, the newlyweds Bill and Hazel opened and operated a family care practice in Selinsgrove, PA, before relocating to fill a need in the freshly built community of Levittown PA, and became a partner with Dr. Gordon Pauley's family practice.
As the new practice blossomed, Hazel shifted her focus from nursing to raising family, but continued learning, staying current in nursing throughout her lifetime. Hazel was a constant reader, a gourmet cook and avid story teller. She had an approachable and endearing personality that drew many fans and cultivated many life-long friendships. She and her family enjoyed vacations on the Jersey Shore, as well as motor boating on the Delaware River and the Chesapeake Bay.
Hazel was a member of the Lower Bucks Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, and served on the board at Growth Horizons, a support service for intellectual and developmental delays. She was a member of Emily Methodist Church of Levittown, Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Huntington Valley and the New Life Christian Church of Newtown. Hazel was a selfless individual and was loved unconditionally by many, of both family and friends. She will be deeply missed.
Hazel was the daughter of the late Arthur G. Keller and E. Catherine Keller. She was a devoted wife of 72 years to Dr. William J. Cauffman. She was predeceased by her brother Dean (Marion) Keller and survived by her brother Harold (Shirley) Keller. She is also survived by daughters Susan (Rich) Wagner, Mary Cauffman, and sons Bill (Karen) Cauffman and Kris Cauffman. She was the proud grandmother of Kaitlyn (Joel) Casale, Christina (Jeff) Ward and Kevin Cauffman. She was great-grandmother of Hudson Ward and Julian Casale. Hazel was also a loving aunt of many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to Hazel's Life Celebration on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, viewing from 10 to 11 AM and to her funeral service at 11 AM at New Life Christian Church, 4 Freedom Way, Newtown, PA 18940.
