Hazel Marie Cogburn DeMasters, of Glenwood, passed away on Wednesday, May 8, 2024.
Mom was born in April 16 1941, in Newhope, Arkansas. Mom passed away in Hot Springs at age 83 she was the oldest of 9 children.
In Howard County, when Hazel was 11 years old, she sold seeds to buy her first bible. Hazel had a difficult and hard life but never lost her faith in God. In 1971, she was living in California and was looking for a church and knew it was where sincere men and women were going two by two and preaching the gospel. She found the truth in 1971, at Santee First Convention in California. She made her choice to serve God in 1971 and never looked back. She knew serving God was not in man's hands but in the heart of man. Mom told us often that It was not what we did for God it was only what God had done for us. Mom was a firm believer that serving God was by revelation and conviction; not in churches made by hands. Mom was a wonderful and faithful example and did her best to withhold high standards even as life was so hard and difficult. Mom was such a help to everyone. Mom was a light and knew Serving God was not a pride service it was a heart service. Mom will always have a special place in our hearts.
Mom is survived by her son, Sonny Edward DeMasters of Glenwood; her daughter and son-in-law, Ramona Jean DeMasters/Tanner- Keppers and Duane Keppers; her two Grandchildren, Paul Ryan Tanner of Tucson Arizona and Audrey Jean Tanner of Provo Utah; her sister, Pat Kesterson; her brother, Loyd Cogburn; and her sister-in-law, Thelma Cogburn; and many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and a host of wonderful friends.
We would like to extend our gratitude to Sam and Kim Valerie who so unselfishly helped mom in her final days.
