Hazel Leola Eaton, 96, of Plainville, Indiana went to her Heavenly Home on August 22, 2025. Leola was a loving wife, devoted mother and cherished grandmother. She was born on January 21, 1929, in Earlville, Illinois to Olon and Laverne (Gaither) Porter. She was a 1947 graduate of Plainville High School. Leola was a member of the Friendly Circle Homemakers Club and an active member of Parkview Christian Church. Leola also worked for Washington Eggs, Inc. for a number of years.
On October 19, 1947, Leola married the love of her life Edwin Eugene "Gene" Eaton, and they were lucky to have celebrated sixty-eight years together, working on their farm and raising three sons, Dennis G. Eaton (Janet), Terry R. Eaton (Becky), and Jay Eaton.
Leola loved her six grandchildren, Amy Miske, Andy Eaton, Beth Wolford, Sarah Eaton, and Kelly and Kevin Eaton. Leola was known as Mamaw and Wo Wo to her seven great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Leola also had several nieces and nephews and a sister Linda Coutrney.
Leola is preceded in death by her husband, Gene; her parents Olon and Laverne Porter; two sisters Kathern Andreini and Helen Hoopingarner and her brother's-in-law Bob Courtney, Joe Andreini and Charlie Hoopingarner.
Friends may visit with Leola's family from 10:00 am until the hour of service time of 1:00 pm on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home, 2020 State Street, Washington, Indiana. Pastor Jason Shemanski will officiate, and Leola will be laid to rest in Plainville Cemetery next to her husband Gene. The Eaton family has requested in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the charity of their choice. Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home is privileged and honored to be entrusted with the care of Leola and her family.
