Hazel Ann (Sandridge) Evix, born August 13, 1940, passed away Saturday November 1, 2025, at the age of 85, in the WV Caring Hospice Center at Elkins, after a period of declining health. She was a former resident of Nestorville and more recently of Beverly, WV. She was a daughter of Martha (Upton) Sandridge and Roy Lee Sandridge. On April 7, 1956 she was united in marriage to Earnest Edward Evix, who preceded her in death on December 17, 1981. She was also preceded in death by her daughter Elizabeth Kay Frey, two grandchildren, Sarah (Evix) Brady and Jason Frey and one great-grandchild Lundan Frey.
She is survived by two brothers; Edward Lee (Pete) Sandridge and Jeff Sandridge; three sisters, Sandra Kay Johnson, Joyce Cutlip and Deborah Poling. Five children, Leonard Evix and wife Karen, Gary Evix and companion Pearl, Donna Evix, Steve Evix and wife Lisa and Eric Evix and wife Lisa and a Son-in-law Kim Frey.
Additional survivors include 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 7 great great-grandchildren, and her good friend, Shirley. Many cousins, nieces and nephews also survive.
Hazel attended the schools of Barbour County and had an array of jobs over the years. Working at Grafton Shirt Factory, Badger Coal Company, Simmons Lumber Company, Colonial Mills and 32 years at H&R Block in Elkins as an office assistant. She loved to hunt and fish when she was younger, and travel to the beach with her family and friends. She was always up for an adventure. Hazel enjoyed life and loved spending time with her family and friends.
Friends will be received from the Talbott Funeral Home, 56 N. Brandenburg Street, Belington, WV 26250 on Wednesday November 5, 2025 from 11am – 3pm the funeral hour when final rites will be conducted by the funeral home chapel with Pastor Kevin Gainer officiating. Interment will follow in the Barbour Memorial Cemetery near Belington, WV. The Talbott Funeral Home in Belington is in charge of the arrangements for Hazel Ann (Sandridge) Evix.
