Hazel Ruby Forrester went peacefully to heaven surrounded by her loved ones on Tuesday, March 4, 2025. Ruby was 88 years old being born on December 29, 1936. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Saturday, March 8, 2025, at Annunciation Catholic Church with Father Jeffrey Waldrep, celebrant, and Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory directing. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM in the church atrium. The interment will immediately follow at Memorial Gardens of Columbus.
Ruby is preceded in death by the love of her life, Donald Ray Forrester, her son, Darrell Forrester, mother, Juanita Taylor, and brother, Russell Taylor. She was born in Hawaii and moved to Dan Diego during her teenage years and met a Navy Sailor from Columbus, MS, married on June 20, 1959, and moved to Columbus to settle and raise a family. she celebrated 56 years of marriage with her "Don" before he passed away in 2015. Ruby was the Mother of five children all with names starting with a "D" after her husband. She loved Jesus and could be found constantly praying or attending her Church as a Devout Catholic. She was a member of Annunciation Catholic Church in Columbus. She loved people and if she knew you, she knew when your birthday was and never forgot it. She loved celebrating birthdays and loved to send people cards to make them feel special.
Ruby loved being surrounded by her family and left a large legacy. Donna Forrester, David and Susan Forrester, Darlene and Scott Comish, and DeeDee and Frank Maslowski. She leaves behind eight grandchildren and seven great grands. Derrick and Lori Forrester (Sawyer), Abby and Brian Park (Miles, Myla), Presley and Able Lowry (Audrey and Jack), Dalton and Courtney Forrester (Delcan and Connell), Carson and Kelsie Forrester, Matthew Comish, Alex and Olivia Maslowski.
Pallbearers will be Derrick Forrester, Dalton Forrester, Carson Forrester, Matthew Comish, Alex Maslowski, and Brian Park.
A big thank you goes out to Enhabit Hospice and her care sitter, Vida Edwards. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Annunciation Catholic School, 223 North Browder, Columbus, MS, 39702.
