Hazel Fisher Mathis, born on October 23, 1934, in North Carolina, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2025. She is preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Lizzie Russell Fisher, her loving husband Troy, who passed away in 2018, five sisters and four brothers. The bonds created throughout her life leave a lasting impact on those who knew and loved her.
She was a devoted member of the Fines Creek Memorial Baptist Church, where she, alongside her loving husband Troy Mathis, dedicated 47 years serving as janitors. Their commitment to the church and its community exemplified their deep faith and loving spirits.
Hazel's family was her pride and joy. She is survived by her daughter, Cumi Greene (Billy), her son, Wayne Mathis (Lisa), one brother, Crawford Fisher, and a cherished legacy that includes three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Their lives were enriched by her warmth and kindness.
In honor of Hazel's life and the love she shared, visitation will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2025, from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M., followed by her funeral service at 11:00 A.M., both at the Fines Creek Memorial Baptist Church, located at 1128 Max Patch Rd, Clyde, NC, 28721. Burial will be at Fines Creek Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery after the service.
Hazel Fisher Mathis will be remembered fondly, her legacy living on in the hearts of her family and friends
