Hazel Sig-Hester will surely be missed, though an unforgettable icon.

The products that Sig Manufacturing developed, manufactured, packaged and marketed were the timbers of the model aircraft world for many years. My first job in 1972 at age 13 was as a stock clerk at Model Masters hobby shop in Annandale, VA, responsible for buying from the Sig factory. The Sig business was, at the same time, creative and a reliable mainstay.

As I type, I find myself involved in selling Sig kits from the estates of model builders and collectors, including the control line Twister and Banshee. Though I did not meet her in person, the qualities and integrity of the business remain a positive influence.

Fair wind and blue sky, Hazel. I plan to review the catalog shown below to help Sig-Ment the happy memories. The work of Hazel and her team live on.
