Hazel Thomas Obituary

Published by Ideal Funeral Parlor - Florence on Feb. 2, 2017.
"She opens her hand to the poor and reaches out her hands to the needy. She is not afraid of snow for her household, for all her household are clothed in scarlet." -Proverbs 31:20-21 A time to be born…. Hazel Lee Mullins Thomas was born on Friday, April 19, 1946, in Kingstree, SC, to Tom and Lillie Mae Salters Mullins. She was the fourth of their ten children. A Time For Every Purpose Under The Heavens…. Being a Renaissance Woman, she was Knowledgeable, Artistic, and Sociable. Hazel attended the public schools of Williamsburg and Marion Counties. Later, she took classes in Floral Design and Ministry. She accepted Christ at an early age and became a devoted member to Nazarene Baptist Church; later joining the Church of Latter Day Saints and was a member until her death. She was employed in many fields, working in education both (Special Education and Head Start), being a Home Health Aide, and security professional just to name a few. Hazel had such a love and dedication for her family. Like her father, she was always smiling. Hazel loved shopping, traveling, and talking on the phone with family and friends. Hazel enjoyed decorating banquets and weddings. She had a fondness for special events, so she could wear her fancy suits and fetching hats. Holidays and family gatherings meant the most to her. She always had an open door policy for family and close friends. Hazel was lucky enough to find love twice; she was married to Bobby Williamson until his death. Years later, she would marry Jessie J. Thomas. They were married for over twenty years until his death in 1999. A Time To Die… On Thursday, February 2, 2017, Hazel Lee Mullins Thomas took the Lord's hand, and He led her to her heavenly home while resting at McLeod Hospice House of Florence, SC after an extended illness. Hazel is preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Lillie Mae Salters Mullins; husbands, Bobby Williamson and Jessie J. Thomas; two sisters, Ernestine Mullins Phillips and Mildred Mullins Gray; and a great-grandson, Nicolas T.
