Heather Dyke Obituary

DYKE, Heather Hull

1970 - 2025

Heather passed away peacefully at her home in Brookhaven, GA, on May 5, 2025.

She was born on September 22, 1970, and spent her early years in Midlothian, VA. Early on, Heather became a proficient rider with her horse, Chippy. After high school, she headed for Georgia and never looked back. She graduated in 1992 from the Terry College of Business with a BBA in Real Estate. Then onward to Georgia Tech to obtain a Master's in City Planning in 1996. In college, her chosen sport was Ultimate Frisbee.

As an AICP-certified planner, Heather worked for CH2M Hill and later Jacobs for 30 years as an Environmental Water and Resource Technologist. She used her expertise to assess the impacts in a variety of public and private NEPA settings, assessing the socioeconomic impacts to population, environmental justice, equity to underserved communities, public services, flood control, housing, and land use.

Heather's greatest sense of pride and joy was becoming a mom to Elsie Elizabeth Broome, who survives her. Heather is also survived by her brother, W. Glenn Dyke (Leslie); ex-husband, Daniel Steven Broome, aunt, Carolyn G. Allen (John); and numerous cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Patricia Garvin Dyke and John Endicott Dyke of Acworth, GA.

A private burial is planned. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the The Trust for Public Lands or Georgia Public Broadcasting.

I worked with Heather for many years at CH2M Hill and Jacobs. She was always a pleasure to work with and she was such a valuable addition to all the project teams. I live in Colorado but we often talked about Atlanta where I grew up. Heather was a wonderful person, always cheerful and always willing to take on new roles. My condolences to the family.
