Hector Crespo Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Gentry-Morrison Funeral Homes - Serenity Gardens Chapel on Jan. 22, 2026.
Hector Crespo, born on June 13, 1957, in Cayey, Puerto Rico, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2026, surrounded by love. He was 68 years old.

Hector was the beloved son of Maria Crespo Pedraza and Andres Crespo and a cherished brother to many siblings: Anibal, Hector, Luis, Orlando, Ariel, Victor Manuel, Wanda Ivette, Laura Estelle and Jackie Crespo. Family was at the heart of Hector's life, and he maintained close bonds with those he loved throughout his journey.

In 1966 Hector moved with his family to Haverstraw, New York. In the early 1970's they relocated to the Bronx, New York, where Hector spent much of his youth. In the early 1980's he moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he continued to build his life.

Hector was a devoted husband to Luz Ortiz, whom he reunited with in 2009. Their love story culminated in marriage in June 2014, a union filled with companionship, resilience, and deep affection.

He was a proud and loving father to Hector Crespo, Jr, Hector Luis Crespo and Yarima Kuilan, who were the joy of his life. He was a loving stepfather to Nector Pabon, Eric Ocasio and Anthony Ocasio, embracing them as part of his family with care and devotion. Hector was a devoted grandfather who cherished his grandchildren deeply, finding immense happiness in time spent with them and holding a special place in his heart for each one.

Hector was known for his love of fishing, a pastime that brought him peace and joy. Whether near the water or sharing stories of his best catches, fishing was one of the simple pleasures that reflected his patience, appreciation for nature and love of quiet moments.

Hector will be remembered for his dedication to family, his enduring spirit, and the deep love he had for his children, stepchildren and grandchildren. His legacy lives on through all those whose lives he touched.

He will be deeply missed forever.

Funeral Service will be on Friday, January 23, 2026, at Gentry-Morrison Serenity Gardens Chapel from 12pm-1pm, interment to follow at Serenity Gardens Cemetery.
