To the family, many, many friends, and fans of this great person who played an outfielder for the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1971. Mr. Hector Lopez was the first black manager in Triple-A baseball when he became manager of the Buffalo Bisons in 1969. He had a wonderful career in baseball. May you find comfort in your wealth of fond memories together with Mr. Hector Lopez. Hector Lopez grew up in Silver City and the Heights of the former Canal Zone, Panama. We were neighbors and my family and I knew him well. We were very proud of him as he made his mark in the major and minor leagues and baseball. I would like to convey my deepest sympathy to his family and friends. Rest in Peace my brother.
