Born on May 6, 1944, in Puerto Rico, Hector carried his homeland in his heart wherever life took him. He later made his home in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, where he built a life rooted in family, friendship, and hard work. His Puerto Rican heritage shaped who he was—guiding his values, traditions, and the love he shared so freely with others.
Papo was a man of deep kindness, quiet strength, and unwavering devotion to his family. His warm presence, strong work ethic, and generous spirit left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He found his greatest joy in being surrounded by those he loved, sharing laughter, stories, and moments that will be cherished forever.
He is survived by his devoted partner, Sonia Magaly Allende Rivera; his beloved children, Carmen, Manuel, Adam, Sheila, Jeanette, Leslie, Frances, Lindsay, and Nicolle; his cherished grandchildren; and his siblings, Lucy, Olga, Leo, Edwin, Cholin, Tuto, and Ñeca. He is also lovingly remembered by many extended family members and dear friends whose lives were enriched by his presence.
To honor Hector “Papo” a public visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Homes & Crematory, located at 3315 Silas Creek Parkway, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. Friends and loved ones are warmly invited to attend the visitation to share memories and offer their support. The Celebration of Life service honoring Hector will begin at 6:00 p.m., with a time afterward for family and friends to gather, remember, and celebrate his life. The service will also be livestreamed for those unable to attend in person.
Though he is no longer with us, Hector “Papo” Rosario’s love, wisdom, and gentle spirit will live on through the many lives he touched. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
